Color Menu

Adjust
Brightness/Contrast ... this one you will use often. You can make an image crisper by adding more contrast to it, and lighter and darker by using the bright bar.
Colorize ... move the sliders to change the color
Grey Scale ... turns the image to light and dark gray tones
Histogram Functions ... Copied from the helpfiles because this is one I have never played with. (A Histogram is a graph of the distribution of red, green, blue, greyscale, hue, saturation, and/or lightness values in an image. The horizontal axis represents the lightness values of the image from black to white (0 to 255). The vertical axis indicates the number of pixels at each value. At a lightness level where there are many pixels of one of the values, the corresponding line spikes; where there are few pixels, it appears close to the horizontal axis. In dark images, most of the pixels are grouped at the left side. If an image is too light, the pixels are grouped at the right.
Select the check boxes under the graph to see the distribution of the specific values. Select the Sample Select the Sample Merged check box to view the values from all layers. Select the Selection Only check box to limit the graph to the values of a selection.
You can also view specific information about a value. Choose its name from the Display Channel drop-down box and then move your cursor to the graph. Paint Shop Pro displays the number of pixels in the channel that match the Histogram’s maximum, minimum, mean, median, and average values. To select a range of levels along the x axis, left-click and drag the mouse.
To toggle between viewing and hiding the Histogram, do any of the following:
· Press <H>,
· Click the Histogram button on the toolbar,
· Right-click the empty space of a palette or bar and choose it from the menu, or
· Choose View > ToolBars and select or clear its checkbox in the Toolbars dialog box.
The Histogram window has an automatic roll-up feature that minimizes it so only its title bar is visible. This lets you keep it accessible without blocking the workspace. Enable automatic roll-up in the Toolbar dialog box or the Dialogs and Palettes tab of the General Program Preferences. When the feature is enabled, its button on the title bar shows whether it is active or inactive . When the feature is not enabled, the icon disappears from the title bar.
Ø Note: Paint Shop Pro runs more quickly with the Histogram closed because it doesn't have to update the Histogram as you edit an image.
Negative Image... Replaces each pixel color with its opposite color
Posterize ...flattens the image with bands of color, not a smooth gradient effect
Solarize ...The Solarize command produces the same effect as the Negative Image command, but lets you control the threshold level.
Channels ...To increase or decrease a channel
Palettes ... these are pal file format. They are custom colors. Example open an image and choose Load Palette and they are listed in the Palette folder under Jasc. Here you will get an example of what these do. To obtain your full color palette back, click Colors/Increase/16 Million
Decrease and Increase ... this is to increase or descrease the amount of colors in your palette. Example... gif format is up to 256 colors. You will need to set them to 16 Million and some other formats are lower as well.
